Overview

The food packaging differentiation play.
Thin paper. High speed. Blue ocean margins.

The SAGLIN-RZJD-G series is the differentiation play in the SAGLIN paper bag range. While the retail shopping bag market (SAGLIN-RZFD) is mature and price-competitive, the food and bakery segment remains structurally underserved by Chinese machinery — most twisted-rope and flat-handle machines cannot run the thin paper (35–60 g/m²) that food applications demand.

“For converters entering paper bag production, the food and bakery segment is the blue ocean — high margin, growing demand, and almost no Chinese competition running the thin paper that food applications require.”

Two flat-bottom configurations cover the food-bag spectrum: the RZJD-G250J for small confectionery, bakery, and snack items up to 250 mm wide, and the flagship RZJD-G350J running at up to 580 pcs/min for the volume food bag market up to 350 mm wide. Both accept an optional inline flexographic printing unit and an optional see-through window unit for branded food and beverage bags.

Every SAGLIN-RZJD-G machine ships with electrical and pneumatic specifications adapted for the Russian market (380V / 50Hz, EAC support). Installation, commissioning, and operator training are handled by our partner HD RUS LLC in the Moscow region.

The RZJD-G350J reaches its 580 pcs/min peak (120 m/min web speed) on shorter bag lengths with 35–50 g/m² thin paper; the RZJD-G250J peaks at 500 pcs/min (90 m/min). Sustained speeds drop on heavier paper (60–80 g/m²) and longer bag formats. Both models include a 5 kW hot-melt gluing module for clean high-speed flat-bottom forming and are offered in an optional see-through window version. Specifications subject to continuous improvement.

The Thin-Paper Advantage

35 g/m² compatibility opens the food bag market.

Most Chinese shopping-bag machines cannot run paper lighter than 80 g/m². This is the single largest barrier blocking shopping-bag converters from entering the food and bakery segment — where customer specifications routinely require 35–60 g/m² thin paper for cost efficiency, breathability, and recyclability.

The SAGLIN-RZJD-G series is engineered from the unwinding station onward for thin-paper handling: an EPC web-guide with constant-tension control and a magnetic powder brake prevent tearing during high-speed feed, German LENZE motion control modulates web tension precisely, and the flat-bottom forming geometry with Swiss Robatech hot-melt gluing produces clean square bottoms without creasing.

For converters, this means access to the food and bakery segment — a market with roughly three times the unit volume of premium retail bags and growing structurally as plastic-packaging bans accelerate across the EU, Russia, and CIS.

  • Bakery and pastry bags (35–50 g/m²)
  • Quick-serve restaurant takeaway (50–60 g/m²)
  • Confectionery and snack packaging (35–45 g/m²)
  • Coffee and tea retail bags (45–60 g/m² with window option)

Thin-Paper Compatibility Floor

The 35 g/m² thin-paper floor on both the RZJD-G250J and RZJD-G350J is the differentiator that opens the food and bakery segment to converters that would otherwise be locked into the saturated retail shopping-bag market.

Frequently Asked

Questions before signing the contract.

Which configuration should I start with — RZJD-G250J or RZJD-G350J?
Choose based on your widest target bag. RZJD-G350J is the volume choice — 70–350 mm width covers most bakery, pastry, takeaway, and confectionery formats, with the industry-leading up to 580 pcs/min speed and a 5 kW hot-melt module for clean high-speed bottom forming. RZJD-G250J is the cost-efficient entry for converters focused on small confectionery, snack, and small-bakery packaging up to 250 mm wide (up to 500 pcs/min). The RZJD-G350J also accepts wider feed (up to 960 mm) and larger rolls (up to Φ1200 mm), so it is the better long-term choice if your format mix may grow.
What is the realistic production speed under shop-floor conditions?
The RZJD-G350J peak of 580 pcs/min (120 m/min web speed) is achieved on shorter bag lengths with 35–50 g/m² thin paper. In two-shift production with mid-size bags on 50–60 g/m² standard food kraft, sustained averages typically settle around 420–480 pcs/min. The RZJD-G250J peaks at 500 pcs/min (90 m/min) and typically sustains 350–420 pcs/min on confectionery formats. Inline flexo printing reduces sustained speed by roughly 15–25%.
Can the RZJD-G series produce bags with a window cutout?
Yes — a factory-fit see-through window unit is available on both configurations. The unit applies a transparent film (OPP or PET, 0.022–0.035 mm, 50–200 mm film width, Φ500 mm film roll) in registration with the bag features. Window bags are particularly common in coffee, tea, and confectionery applications where end-customers want product visibility. Specify the window option at quotation stage if relevant.
What hot-melt gluing system does the machine use?
Both configurations use a Swiss Robatech hot-melt gluing machine with automatic gluing gun jet — its key advantage is uninterrupted high-speed gluing for clean, consistent flat-bottom forming. The bottom-paste step uses white latex (water-based) gluing. The hot-melt module adds 5 kW to the machine’s electrical load (19 kW + 5 kW on the G250J, 27 kW + 5 kW on the G350J). Details are confirmed at quotation.
What is the lead time and payment structure?
Lead time: 45–60 days from receipt of 30% deposit. Payment terms: 30% T/T down payment, 70% T/T before shipment. Shipment: by vessel on pallets to St. Petersburg or Novorossiysk (typically 35–45 days transit). Warranty: 12 months from acceptance. Quote validity is 6 months from issue date.
Is the machine EAC certified for the Russian market?
SAGLIN-RZJD-G carries CE certification from factory. EAC certification (Russian Customs Union conformity declaration) is arranged through our partner HD RUS LLC in the Moscow region as part of the turnkey delivery package. EAC for food-contact packaging machinery is critical for Russian regulatory compliance — estimated certification lead time: 30–45 days, included in our standard project schedule.
Can I add inline printing later?
An inline flexo printing unit (up to 1000 mm material width, 228–700 mm print length, 5–100 m/min print speed) is available as a factory-fit option on both configurations. Retrofitting after delivery is technically possible but requires factory re-commissioning and electrical re-cabling — we recommend specifying the printing option at the quotation stage if there is any near-term likelihood of running branded bags. The printing unit adds to the machine footprint.
Do you also offer dedicated flexographic printing presses?
A dedicated flexographic printing press line (covering multi-color configurations and wider web widths) is in development as a separate SAGLIN product category. If pre-press capability separate from the bag-making line is critical to your operation — particularly for high-volume coffee, tea, and branded food bag programs — please flag it in your inquiry and our project team can quote both lines together as an integrated solution.
